Book with TinaWhat to Expect with Treatment
Your first visit will include an intake and informed consent process, which takes a little longer. The practitioner will observe how you move and hold statically, noting any misalignments or imbalances. Then, you will be asked to lie in various positions to allow the practitioner to assess the quality of your joints and tissues by gently moving you around. Treatment is based on identifying the most restricted areas and understanding how these patterns tie into each other, focusing on freeing the function of the collective unit to promote overall health and balance.
Treatment Experience
- Gentle and Rhythmic: Treatment should be gentle and rhythmic, with no pain. If something is uncomfortable, let the practitioner know so positioning can be adjusted.
- Post-Treatment Sensations: Side effects vary from person to person and treatment to treatment. Common sensations include feeling good, achiness similar to after a massage, dizziness, nausea, and tiredness as the body balances out. These effects are influenced by personal constitution, diet, medications, and the dose of treatment.
Ensure you drink plenty of water after your session to support the body’s healing process.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy based on the principle that structure and function are intimately related. If your structure is off (twisted, bent, etc.), the flow of vital fluids and forces (nerve, artery, vein, and lymph) can’t reach their destinations. Without these flows, our organs and tissues can’t function optimally. Osteopathy aims to restore the structure so the body can self-heal and self-regulate.

Benefits of Osteopathy
Osteopathy offers a wide range of benefits by addressing the root causes of structural and functional imbalances in the body. This holistic approach can improve overall health and well-being through various means:
- Pain Relief: Effective for chronic and acute pain conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint pain.
- Improved Mobility: Enhances joint and muscle flexibility, leading to better movement and reduced stiffness.
- Enhanced Circulation: Promotes better blood flow and lymphatic drainage, aiding in detoxification and nutrient delivery to tissues.
- Stress Reduction: Alleviates physical and mental stress, promoting a sense of relaxation and well-being.
- Digestive Health: Helps improve digestive function by addressing imbalances that affect the organs and tissues involved in digestion.
- Respiratory Function: Can assist in improving breathing patterns and respiratory function, beneficial for conditions like asthma.
- Postural Alignment: Corrects postural imbalances that can lead to discomfort and dysfunction.
- Support for Healing: Enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself by restoring proper structural alignment and function.
- Overall Wellness: Contributes to general health maintenance and prevention of future injuries or conditions.
By focusing on the interconnectedness of the body’s structure and function, osteopathy provides a comprehensive approach to health care that supports long-term wellness and vitality.
